Google tells employees:’No more Windows’

Financial Times is reporting that Google will be phasing out of the internal use of Microsoft Windows. According to Google employees that the operating security concerns have lead to the demise of Windows in Google. The policy was created after Google’s Chinese operations were hacked at the begging of January.

Now new hires are given the option of Apple’s Macintosh or to lead the way open source with Linux and its multitude of flavors. Some at Google may be saddened by the news, but others were already headed towards the Mac for security concerns. Other rumors are circulating that Google will run its Chrome OS, but it may not happen soon.

Unlike other large companies, Google has let their employees choose the OS of their choice. Should companies ban Windows because of the security risks they cause? Has Windows proven to be more of a hassle than help? Will other companies begin to eliminate Windows, or are does Windows control critical services unavailable on the Mac?

Two Million iPads in Less Than 60 Days

CUPERTINO, California – May 31,2010-Apple reported today that their new hot product, the iPad, has reached over two million sales from the April 3rd launch date. Apple reached the two million figure in 28 days after Apple’s iPad reached its one millionth figure.

Most sales can be accounted for in the U.S. Market, as the iPad was released to certain international countries four days ago. Apple did not report  how many iPads sold internationally accounted for the two million figure.

“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”

Earlier, Apple reported difficulty in producing enough iPads to meet the demand, but Apple appears to be meeting demands.

It appears that people actually want a gigantic iPod Touch!

Competition Among Pads

Tablet computer “pads,” that is. Yes, other tech giants, along with some start-ups, are once again following Apple in an attempt to gain a portion of the market that Apple created.  The WeePad, JooJoo Tablet, and HP Slate are among the competitors that announced or released tablet computers within the past month.

Clearly, there is a pretty good market for tablet computers, as Apple announced Monday news that it has sold 1 million iPads in the first month!  But will other companies be able to capture the same appeal that Apple has with the iPad?

Analysts think not.  The International Data Corporation says that “Anybody can make a tablet. I could go to Taiwan, hire a contract manufacturer, and make ‘Bob’s tablet,’ but the hard part is doing the software and getting the applications.”  If any company CAN do that though, it would be HP.

Though it is perhaps possible for HP to take some of the market away from Apple, in the long run I don’t think it will make much of a difference for Apple.  All of these other companies are followers. But the leader remains the leader.

A Short Look in Apple’s Logo History

Everyone has seen the current metalic logo of Apple and the recent retro rainbow Apple, but not many people know of the logo before. It is a very interesting logo that not many people know about (Full picture after break). It features a very smart man.  Sir Isaac Newton to be exact.  Yep, that guy that thought up the Three Laws of Motion.  He is featured under an apple tree where there seems to be a halo effect around the apple.  This is supposed to be the depiction of when he was thinking about his Universal Law of Gravitation, and now after throwing all that info at you, you may still be wondering why you may not have heard of it.  Well this was probably because it was only their logo for one year before being replaced by the retro rainbow apple.  After all that, here it is, the original Apple logo.  And finally, could you imagine seeing that on the back of your latest iDevice?(Doctored up picture of iPad after break)
